AM: 3-USU Campus Loop. Woke up at 7:30 for a morning run with all the recruits. I'm glad I wasn't the only one with morning runs. It was cool and different to go running with people I've never met before but they were all way cool. Got back just after 8 when our appointment with the biology academic coordinator was at 8. So i hurried fast and I was actually the first on ready. We eventually left at 8:30. Kind of a bad impression on the coaches. But the rest of the day was good with them. I really liked it.

PM: 7-USU Neighborhoods. Warmed up with the college athletes and they went about 4 miles. Then when we got back we just watched them do their work out while we did a couple striders, core workouts, and stretching. Then  we all needed a little more mileage so we did a couple laps around the indor 200 track, then went outside on the snow covered track. Me and Marcus raced the 400, sort of. He ran a 58 and I ran a 59 just for fun. We were slipping all over. Then we jogged over to the athletic training building then back to our hotel to get ready for more meetings. I really like the snow! But I felt so out of place being the only one with our running tights. I guess that's what I get for living in Southern Utah.

PM: 5-Telegraph. Just got back from our trip up north. (Me and Kaylee went to USU, UVU, and SUU for recruitment purposes with my mommy). And we decided to see if anyone was still at school. We saw basially the whole team and Trevor for the first time since New Years Eve! And we just ran home from there since we had our running stuff in our suitcases. It was definately hotter here, I kinda liked it up north!

AM: 3-Arctic Circle. Ran with coach and told him all about the visit up north, and it felt good.

PM: 6.5-Scout Cave @ Chuckawala. Really neat run, except for when we had to basically hike up a mountain on our way back. But the scenery was great and we got to see a whole nother side of SGC that we never really get to see. Those Snow Canyon guys are lucky with all those great trails right there. The caves were pretty big and we all took a little potty break in there :) except for Mikey. He had to wander off in the wilderness somewhere. Practically raced back to the cars cause Trevor had to poop, and Casey went right with him. I got 2nd place though!

AM: 3-Arcitc Circle. I actually didn't run to arctic circle because I turned around half a mile early, so I could turn on the showers and let them warm up before I got there. Went out to the track for the last mile and did a lot of vizualizing and goal setting stuff. I'm pumped for this season!

PM: 6-Greensprings Figure 8. Did our own little version of Greensprings and took a wrong turn, (on purpose), then had to extend past the DI and to the other side of the high school. I realized I was running quite 'lazy' today and I need to fix it and take care of myself if I want to reach my goals.

AM: 3-Arctic Circle. Ran in my new, cool, running tights so I could fit in with all the Northerners and the girls on the team :)

PM: 7-Prostitute Run with Dirt(y) Mile. Felt good at the beginning and was running well, until my tape job made my foot start throbbing! Started running back on my heels and all heavy. Wasn't the greatest, but we got to start lifting today, so that was good.

AM: 3-Arctic Circle. Didn't wake up on time so I just went to the school around 6:45. Ran on my own and it was really nice, until I started morning (day) dreaming about someone shooting me in the head and leaving me to die with no one to find me. It was a kind of questionable neighborhood! But really it felt good, even though I'm super sore from lifting yesterday.

AM: 3-Hot Nails. Missed morning practice on accident again, so I went out quick during lunch for the three miler. About 20 minutes, it was ok.

PM: 7-Dirty Sock/Striders/Lifting. Run was average, my knee is really bugging me lately and I don't know what to do, but we found a sweet wicker couch that me and Mikey started to carry back, but was supah heavy! I think I'll pick it up on my way to school tomorrow. Striders kind of hurt my arch, and lifting got me sore. I sound like a complainer, but I guess that's what I am.

PM: 7-Mr. PVHS 5k Course/Alien Farm. Worst run of my life! No over exaggeration. I was being stupid and tripped over some of the girls and tried to save myself by pulling off a somersault, but only screwed myself worse. Slapped my back on the pavement and scratched it up a bit. Got up like it was nothing to show how cool I was even though I was super embarrassed. But when I took my first step I could barely bear any weight. Took it to slow jogging and that really sucked. I think I acted like a bigger baby than I should have, but I've never hurt that bad in my life. Not even when I dislocated my ankle. I hope this is just something small and won't bother me too much.

Sunrisers -

Level 3 boys: 4x400 (all the way up)and 4x200 (1/2 way up) - total mileage 9

Level 3 girls (except Liz L. and Taylor B.): 3x400 and 4x200 - total 8

Level 2 guys (and Liz L. and Taylor B.): 3x400 and 3x200 - total 7

Level 2 girls: 2x400 and 3x200 - total 6

Level 1's: 1x400 and 2x200 - total 5

Over and back is a total of 3.5

A 400 repeat is .5 miles

and a 200 is .25 total with the up and down.

Also Level 3 boys need to get a double in (so an easy 3 in the evening).

AM: 11.5-A Tale of Two Cities. Just so everybody knows, Michael Finch misquoted me. So we started in Washington Fields and crossed the washington bridge, then a little through Sanburgs, and down Riverside Drive to River Road, then crossed the St. George Bridge and back into the fray. It was really long, but good. 20 minute tempo section in the middle, about 5:55 pace.

Tyson, I'm so glad you were able to find me. Thank you for letting me know where my card disappered to. I called and cancelled the card so I let someone at your work know to just cut it and toss it. AM: 11-Progression Run. We held it at Cedar High since the football field is being redone at SUU. Everyone had talked to me about it, and I needed to do well in this workout to make it up to high altitude camp in Brian Head. Started with 3 laps at 7:00 pace, then another 3/4 mile around the block about the same pace. Then we went into the progressions. Progression 1: 3 laps at 90/lap. Progression 2: 6 laps at 85/lap. Progression 3: 4 laps at 80/lap. Then we had four more laps after that at 79, 78, 77, and 76 respectively. Then one more mile at whatever pace you can. I actually slowed a little bit cause I was pretty beat. But I was one of two freshmen that actually finished. We had 12 finish this year, which is how many make it up to the camp, so I was good!

PM: 3-Brian Head. Just did low mileage to get today's total.

AM: 3-Brian Head. Same as yesterday, just a shake out run.

PM: 11-Marathon. Some trail in between Navajo Lake and Brian Head that goes out forever. Planning on 10 but extended a little to get mileage. On the way back with Nate Jewkes, Ryan Barris, and Josh Gardner we were hitting sub 6:00 pace for a lot of it. Felt really fast, but really good too. Crazy that we were at 10,000 feet!

AM: 9-Navajo Lake Loop. Today some guys went really fast and a couple of us just let them go, but we were still 6:30 pace for most of it. Awesome trail that reminded me of Oregon or something with soft dirt and tall trees. Twisted my ankle a couple times, but nothing serious. I was supposed to add on a little bit in the afternoon, but we had to practice for the talent show, which my group won by the way!

AM: 9-Canyon Run. I woke up late, missed warm ups, hadn't eaten, and for some reason my back was killing me. But I went in optimistic to this workout. It's three miles up the canyon to practice on our ending pace in a race. I hurt a lot more than I expected, my insides were twisted, I had a huge headache, and every muscle was burning, and didn't get a very good time. Hopefully I'll PR by a lot next time. Oh and we ice bathed afterwards, that was pretty good. But the trainers only let us get the water down to 60 degrees. It felt really warm, which is really weird.

PM: 1-Thunderbird Way. Just ran a little bit more, cause I didn't feel like doing it that morning.

AM: 9-Bicentennial. Ran over to the park where we host the SUU XC Invite. Did some strides and form work with coach, then added mileage back to the stadium.

PM: 3-Campus Loop. Just added some mileage around the campus and then went for a swim in the PE building so I can hopefully up my cardio a bit better. It rained a little, which felt really good.

AM: 10-Grass/Dikes. Went up on the hill to do some laps at the elementary for terrain training. Then we extended around Dikes, it was really muddy and the rain washed the... wash... even further down. It felt really good today, so I hope I'll be ready for the Time Trial.

PM: 4-Campus Loop. After we hiked a little up "C" Trail it started down pouring, so we went home and I did my run to make mileage for the day. It's cool, cause we're on a cycle of mileage, for me it is 12, 12, 14, 14, 10, 10 in a week. We started it on Tuesday, so mine will be a little off this week.

AM: 14-Bicentennial. Ran the extended way up the canyon a little then down to the park. Did some grass loops again and ran the long way back with Nate Jewkes to get our mileage. He told me something really smart on the way back, something the Cam told him, so it's gotta be good ;) He said Cam never ran more than 12 at a time so his form wouldn't break down. So we took a break in the training room and did our weights before we finished the run.

AM: 7-Team Trial. Did really well! Finished in 10th, and the split time from me to Ryan, our first guy, was only a minute. I made travel team for ISU next weekend. My splits for the 5 miles were 4:55, 5:02, 5:03, 5:16, 5:07. It got hard after 3 miles, cause I'm not really used to racing further than that. But my split was 15:00 flat for the first three, which is faster than all my times in high school!

PM: 3-Campus Loop. Took my roommate for a run cause he's fat. Not really, he's going to try to walk on the team for the 400. He run's a 50 split and a 51 open, so he should have decent chances.

PM: 12-Whistle Hills w/80%. 5:30 pace for 2.5 miles to the hills. Then three sets of 15, 20, and 25 seconds all out. Hills weren't that bad, just the pace over to the hills. Then I had to get back to the bookstore before it closed and I finished my mileage after.
